Welcome
One of the oldest programs of its kind in the U.S., the University of Washington Museology Graduate Program combines high-quality academic study with practical experience to prepare you for a professional career in museum work. Students in this two-year program work closely with an interdisciplinary faculty and have access to a broad range of specializations in the field. Coursework is supplemented by internships in regional and national museums, providing hands-on training in curation and management of collections in anthropology, art, botany, geology, zoology, and history as well as in interpretive programs and museum administration. The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture is the host to the program’s classrooms, giving students access to the extensive resources of the museum.
Located in Seattle, Washington, the degree program draws students from around the world. Its graduates consistently go on to successful careers in museum work, with three fourths of program graduates obtaining jobs within nine months of graduation.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Museology Graduate Program is to be the foremost national training program for museum professionals, by providing advanced instruction in all areas of museum practice, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and teaching students to think critically about the work of museums.
